Read More (About Loader Backhoes)Construction companies, farmers, landscapers, mining businesses, and street repair crews are some of the many operations that have been using loader backhoes for decades, and for good reason. Composed of three components—tractor, front loader, and backhoe—these versatile, agile machines can cost-effectively perform a long, diverse list of tasks, either on their own or when paired with any of the numerous attachment types they support.
Also referred to as “backhoe loaders,” “diggers,” or simply “backhoes,” new and used loader backhoes are available in a range of sizes and horsepower ratings, and are adept at grading, surfacing, loading, lifting, material handling, excavating, trenching, and other jobs. Around since the 1950s, loader backhoes can usually be driven on public roads, which in many cases saves the time and expense of trailering them and towing them around with a truck.
Loader backhoes offer dig depths ranging from less than 3 metres (10 feet) to more than 5 m (17 ft), and stick extensions can extend digging depths even further. Many can also haul up to several thousand pounds of material in their front loaders and have the agility to navigate congested jobsites. In addition to Tier 4- and Stage V-compliant diesel engines kicking out anywhere from less than 50 to 130 horsepower (37 to 97 kilowatts) or more, zero-emissions electric models such as the 580 EV from CASE will likely become increasingly common over time.
Modern loader backhoes often come equipped with powerful, efficient engines and transmissions, specialized lifting and four-wheel-drive systems, as well as quick coupler systems that make attaching an auger, thumb, compactor, breaker, hammer, spike, grapple, or other attachment quick and easy. Roomy cabs offering enhanced operator visibility are also becoming more common, as are intuitive controls and ergonomic layouts, machine control features, and telematics solutions such as John Deere’s JDLink and CASE’s SiteWatch that monitor machine health and share performance data.
MarketBook offers thousands of new and used loader backhoes for sale every day, including models from such leading brands as CASE, Caterpillar, Deere, JCB, Komatsu, Kubota, New Holland, Terex, and Volvo.
