Read More (About Box Trucks)Box truck trucks typically include a cab and chassis with an attached cargo box, although some vehicles in this category feature a unibody frame. Box trucks are available in a wide range of sizes, weights, and capacities, with payloads determined by each truck’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). You’ll find box trucks in most of the trucking industry’s weight classes, with heavy-, medium-, and light-duty box trucks available from several leading manufacturers (more on this in a moment).
Many trucks in this corner of the market are equipped with lift gates, pull-out ramps, curbside doors, and other features that make them well-suited to frequent delivery stops at homes and businesses where loading docks and forklifts aren’t readily available.
Within the box trucks category, you’ll find a variety of vehicles configured for different usage cases. Dry cargo delivery and moving box trucks are similar in that both types use a standard cargo box, sometimes with a deployable ramp for easier loading and unloading, and are typically used for dry freight or to move families and businesses from one location to another. Cutaway-cube trucks and vans are often delivery or service vehicles that begin as cab and chassis trucks but can support a wide range of bodies, including cargo boxes, and often include a walk-through passage or door between the cab and the cargo area.
Although there are of course exceptions, dry cargo delivery trucks, moving trucks, and cutaway-cube trucks often fall into the light- or medium-duty weight classes, with GVWRs of 11,800 kilograms (26,000 pounds) or less, as many of them are for consumer rental or are used on multi-delivery routes, where smaller, more maneuverable trucks that don’t require a commercial driver’s license (CDL) are a better fit.
The final subtype of box trucks, however, comprises mostly Class 7 and Class 8 heavy-duty trucks with GVWRs of 11,800 kg and up. Dry van trucks and straight trucks are similar in design and function to light- and medium-duty box trucks but are capable of hauling much larger and/or heavier loads than their smaller brethren and, like other heavy-duty trucks, are restricted to use by licensed professional drivers.
You will find new and used box trucks for sale on MarketBook.ca from a variety of manufacturers. Some of the most popular brands include Chevrolet, Ford, Freightliner, GMC, Hino, International, Isuzu, Kenworth, and others. Some trucks for sale on the box truck market may have cargo boxes with specialized internal shelving units or bins for organizing specific types of products or freight, as well as internal load-securing mechanisms and systems.
