    About Stake Trucks

Stake trucks, or stake bed trucks, are shaped like flatbed trucks and feature a flat body with sockets around the edges of the cargo area. This allows users to install removable wooden, steel, or aluminum sides or roofs around the payload area. The stakes provide a frame with plenty of tie-down points to transport materials. This unique bed design makes it easy to load cargo and reduces the risk of damaging or losing cargo during transport.

Stake trucks play a significant role across many industries. Farmers use stake body trucks to transport seed, feed, livestock, and other cargo. Construction companies use them to move tools, equipment, building materials, and more. Forestry and landscape crews also use stake trucks to transport timber, limbs, tools, stones, mowers, and equipment.

    Stake Truck Size Options

Whether you need to haul tools and equipment or transport heavy loads, stake bed trucks come in various sizing options. Stake trucks typically range from 2.4 to 7.9 meters (8 to 26 feet) in length.

Many manufacturers, such as Ford and Chevrolet, produce light-duty and medium-duty models. These models can typically haul 725 kilograms (1,600 pounds). If you need to carry larger loads, heavy- duty models such as the International DuraStar 4300 and 4400 can handle up to 1,814 kg (4,000 lbs).

    Stake Truck Features

To complement stake trucks’ versatile payload and transport capabilities, buyers can customize stake trucks with additional features.

    • Cab Size: Single cabs typically have one row of seating to accommodate two to three passengers. The smaller passenger area allows for a larger cargo bed behind the cab. For larger teams, crew cab models have two rows of seating to hold more passengers.
    • Drive Options: Most stake bed trucks are 4x2 models, but 4x4 models are available for teams who regularly take on harsher terrain.
    • Lift Gates: Lift gates make it easier to load and unload cargo and large equipment on and off the truck bed.
    • Toolboxes: For smaller tools, toolboxes provide additional storage space to stay organized and keep tools from sliding around the bed.
    • Loading Ramps: Similar to lift gates, loading ramps make it easier to load and unload cargo. Ramps provide a sloped surface to allow for smoother transitions between the ground and the truck’s bed.
