They trucks warn drivers approaching construction zones and serve to dampen the impact of collisions while providing a barrier to separate workers on the roadside from vehicles traveling on the road.

Attenuator trucks are equipped with kinetic absorption devices, or TMAs, impact attenuators, crash cushions, or crash attenuators, that reduce the force of vehicle collisions. This decreases the risk of injury to both the driver and any construction workers on the site.

How Attenuator Trucks Work

The rails provide full-width impact protection and redirect vehicles away from the rear of the truck.
