Acquired by South Korean conglomerate Doosan in 2007, Bobcat is a leading global manufacturer of compact equipment and utility vehicles that target construction, agriculture, mining, and other industries.

Founded in Gwinner, North Dakota, in 1947 by Edward Gideon "E.G." Melroe as the Melroe Manufacturing Company, Bobcat now operates three production facilities in North Dakota, making Bobcat the state’s largest manufacturer. Bobcat also has plants in France, China, and the Czech Republic. With global headquarters in Seoul, Korea, and U.S. headquarters now in West Fargo, North Dakota, Bobcat assumed the now well-known “Bobcat” name in 2000.

Among the company’s accomplishments was its introduction of the first compact loader in 1958 with the M60, a self-propelled loader credited with kick starting the compact equipment industry. In 2014, Bobcat produced its 1 millionth Bobcat loader. Today, Bobcat boasts the world’s most extensive compact equipment distribution network with roughly 1,000 Bobcat dealers.

Bobcat’s line of construction equipment includes skid steer, compact track, and mini track loaders; compact excavators; utility vehicles; Toolcat work machines; telehandlers; and additional compact hydraulic equipment and attachments.
