    About Fontaine Trailer

Fontaine Trailer has been in the flatbed trailer market for over 70 years. Bill Fontaine opened his first branch in 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama, in the United States. Later, he moved manufacturing facilities to Haleyville, Alabama, where the Fontaine Trailer headquarters remain to this day. A Marmon Group/Berkshire Hathaway company, Fontaine Trailer claims it is the largest platform trailer manufacturer in the U.S. The company focuses solely on producing Revolution aluminum, Velocity steel, and Infinity aluminum-steel combo flatbed and drop-deck trailers and more.

    Fontaine Velocity Flatbed Semitrailer

    Features

Evolving to meet the demands of new and existing Fontaine trailer buyers, the company has developed numerous innovative features such as:

    • StirLITE Revolution aluminum floors. Manufactured with a friction stir weld tool borrowed from space shuttle engineers, Fontaine says they are stronger yet lighter than the aluminum floors found in many competing brands’ flatbeds.
    • RASR siderails. Fontaine claims its Routed Aluminum Side Rail (RASR) is 12 times stronger than industry standard-compliant siderails from other manufacturers. U.S. DOT-rated and secure, Fontaine says it provides a longer service life and requires less maintenance.
    • Sliding tie-downs (turtles). These support up to 2,495 kilograms (5,500 pounds) each and can be moved or removed and stowed in an optional toolbox as needed.
    • Wiring harnesses. Protected by an aluminum cover plate, this harness runs down the center of the trailer and is always protected from weather or other environmental damage.
    • Twist locks. Fontaine put their locks behind the siderail to protect them from damage caused by forklifts and other wear-and-tear hazards. They allow Infinity and Velocity models to haul versatile loads from cargo or frac sand containers to conventional drop-deck freight.

    Product Line

Fontaine’s Revolution all-aluminum trailers offer a combination of strength light weight that allows for big payloads. Equipped with StirLITE floors and RASR siderails, these trailers ensure that cargo remains secure at all times and have a long service life. The manufacturer builds its Infinity line of trailers from aluminum and steel combined for longevity, and equips them with steel main-beams and cross-bracing with RASR siderails, aluminum flooring, and a rear skirt. Fontaine’s Velocity trailers, meanwhile, are made solely of steel and have flooring supported by steel cross-members that help them handle the heaviest loads.

Fontaine Trailer’s sister company, Fontaine Specialized, produces semitrailers including lowboy models such as the Workhorse, Magnitude, and Renegade, with maximum capacities of 50 tonnes (55 U.S. tons), 72.5 t (80 U.S. t), and 36.3 t (40 U.S. t), respectively. Fontaine Specialized also offers the extendable Xcalibur, capable of hauling up to 40.8 t (45 U.S. t), the Traverse HT hydraulic tail trailer, which can haul up to 36.3 t.
