    About International Trucks

With a history stretching back to 1831 and an expansive lineup of Class 4 through Class 8 commercial and vocational truck families, International Trucks ranks among the world’s most iconic and bestselling truck brands. Navistar, owner of the International Trucks and IC Bus brands, claims to have more than 1 million trucks on Canadian and U.S. roads, and says International trucks account for one in five active Class 6 through Class 8 vehicles. Navistar also produces proprietary diesel engines, including the International A26 engine that powers numerous models throughout International’s product lines, and has a network of more than 1,000 dealers and service locations across North and South America.

    Product Lines

International produces light-, medium-, heavy-, and severe-duty trucks for a wide array of applications in numerous industries. Some examples include ambulances, concrete mixers, dump trucks, local to long-haul delivery vehicles, snowplows, street and sanitation vehicles, tanker trucks, tow trucks, and utility trucks. International’s product lineup features CV light-duty and CV and MV medium-duty trucks. It also sells LoneStar, LT, and RH heavy-duty and HV and HX severe-duty trucks. Navistar also manufactures a medium-duty, fully electric eMV Series that provides wheelbase options from 5,512 to 6,909 millimetres (217 to 272 inches) and has a 217-kilometre (135-mile) range and both AC and DC charging capabilities.

Popular International models on MarketBook.ca include a number of the manufacturer’s legacy models, such as the DuraStar (especially the DuraStar 4300 and 4400), ProStar, TranStar, and WorkStar; the TranStar 8600 and WorkStar 7400 are especially popular. You’ll also find numerous medium-duty International 4700 and 4900 trucks for sale in dry cargo, dump, flatbed, fuel, plow, service and utility, and other configurations. The site also offers a big selection of LoneStar trucks in conventional day cab and sleeper truck variants.

    A History Of Innovation

In 1831, Cyrus McCormick invented the first mechanical harvesting machine called the Reaper. In 1902, International Harvester was formed when McCormick Harvesting Machine Company merged with Deering Harvester Company. After building its first commercial gas engine in 1904, IH developed in 1909 what many consider to be the forerunner of the pickup truck, a vehicle called the “Auto Wagon.” In the 1960s, IH designed a compact cab-over-engine truck, and in the 1970s, it began offering its DT-466 engine with International trucks.

IH reintroduced itself in the 1980s as Navistar International Corporation. It acquired bus-body manufacturer American Transportation Corporation in 1995, and renamed it to IC Bus in 2009. In 2015, Navistar began co-developing Class 4 and 5 conventional cab commercial trucks with General Motors. In 2021, the companies agreed to collaborate on hydrogen fuel cell technology meant to power International RH-series trucks. In 2021, Navistar became a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Traton SE, which itself is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG.

    A Wealth Of Options

Among the many features and options available on International trucks are automated manual, automatic, and manual transmissions, as well as A26 and Cummins B6.7, L9, and X15 power plants. Updates to the A26 in 2021 introduced a 4% increase in fuel economy. The A26 produces up to 515 horsepower (384 kilowatts) and delivers up to 2,508 newton-metres (1,850 pounds-foot) of torque. International cabs come with options like the Premium Gauge Cluster and in Classic, Diamond, and Diamond Elite trim levels.

International trucks also make use of the Diamond Logic electrical system, which allows for programming automated tasks, and the remote diagnostics OnCommand Connection system, which lets fleet managers monitor more than 130 vehicle health checks. Camera- and radar-based Bendix Wingman Fusion collision mitigation technology provides adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and other safety features.
