    About Logging Trucks

Logging trucks are medium- and heavy-duty vehicles specially equipped to transport heavy loads of fallen timber from logging sites to staging areas for transportation or directly to lumber mills and other industrial facilities. They typically have strong suspensions, high-powered engines, and sufficient clearance to haul the extreme weight of their cargo up and down steep gradients, on rough and winding roads, and through challenging weather conditions.

    Kenworth T800 Logging Truck

Some logging trucks have integrated flatbeds, while others have trailers that are essentially stake trucks designed to securely haul large stacks of logs that can measure 12 metres (40 feet) long or longer. Some logging trucks also include a truck-mounted loader with an extendable boom and a grapple or some type of material grabber, allowing them to load themselves and obviating the need for separate log loader equipment.

    Protection & Productivity

You’ll find logging trucks based on the Kenworth T800, Western Star 4900, and other models available with a range of safety and productivity features. Onboard weighing systems and headache racks are common, and some models include a steel bull bar to safeguard the front of the truck from damage as well as lockers to prevent the truck from rolling when stopped on an incline.

Logging trucks are often equipped with powerful diesel engines rated for 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) or more built by leading manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Cummins, and Detroit. Many also have 18-speed manual transmissions for negotiating the rough terrain of logging sites and the steep grades typical of mountain logging roads. They also frequently have 6x4 drivetrains, air ride suspensions, and tandem or tridem rear axles.

    Find The Right Logging Truck

You’ll find a selection of new and used logging trucks for sale on MarketBook.ca from leading manufacturers like International, Kenworth, Peterbilt, and others.
