A Closer Look At The John Deere 1775NT Planter
One of the most consistently popular planters listed for sale on MarketBook.ca is the John Deere 1775NT, a model available in 12-, 16-, and 24-row variants with 30-inch (76-centimeter) spacing. Here’s a closer look at the 1775NT, which received a few notable upgrades for 2022.
The 1775NT At Work
All 1775NTs have a three-section frame that can flex 21 degrees upward and downward, and that folds to a 12-foot (3.7-meter) transport width. Each includes row unit seed hoppers available in 0.062-bushel (2.2-liter), 1.65-bu (58-L), and 3-bu (106-L) capacities. Deere’s MaxEmerge 5 row units are standard, but other options include MaxEmerge 5e row units with an electric drive meter and ExactEmerge row units with an industry-exclusive brush belt delivery system.
The sensor-equipped ExactEmerge includes two electric motors per row unit that independently rotate the seed meter and brush belt. Deere says the system can plant at speeds up to 10 mph (16 km/h) without hindering singulation, population, spacing, or uniform depth performance.
Seed & Fertilizer Capacities
All 1775NT variants are available with the Central Commodity System (CCS), providing increased seed and bulk fill capacities. The 12-row model’s capacity is 100 bu (3,524 L), while the 16- and 24-row models have 130 bu (4,581 L) capacities. Each supports Deere’s factory-installed ExactRate precision fertilizer system, with a hydraulic pump that applies fertilizer at up to 10 mph. ExactRate provides in-furrow or offset delivery methods, is fully integrated with Deere’s 4600 CommandCenter and 4640 Universal Display, and provides up to 20% more accurate nutrient placement in turns. The 12-row 1775NT is available with a 420-gallon (1,590-L) fertilizer tank, the 16-row model a 450-gal (1,703-L) tank, and the 24-row 1775NT a 600-gal (2,271-L) tank.
Among numerous other options for the 1775NT is Individual Row Hydraulic Downforce (IRHD), a closed-loop downforce system that reacts quickly to changing soil conditions to enhance seed depth consistency. IRHD can adjust five times per second, Deere says, and applies adjustments of 100 pounds (45.4 kilograms) in less than a second. Controlled through Deere’s SeedStar 3 HP or SeedStar 4 HP monitor system, IRHD is 58% faster than the active pneumatic downforce solution.
The 1775NT For 2022
In March 2021, Deere announced a new factory-installed integrated tractor-planter solution that promises to reduce operators’ refill and tender stops. The solution combines an 8RX tractor equipped with a 1,000-gal (3,785-L) ExactRate tank with a 1775NT or other compatible planter equipped with factory-installed fluid tanks with air-bleed and overflow protection that can hold up to 600 gal (2,271 L) of fertilizer for a combined capacity of 1,600 gal (6,056 L). Deere also upped the seed tank capacity for its 2022 planter lineup by 30% to 130 bu, as reflected by the 24-row 1775NT. Deere says the solution lets growers plant up to 80 acres of corn and apply 20 gal (76 L) of fertilizer per acre before needing a refill.
Deere also announced availability of a premium LED light package for the 1775NT, as well as an option to replace the tires on a new 2022 model with factory-installed tracks. Deere says doing so will improve flotation and lead to a 73% reduction in ground pressure when fully loaded to 13.3 pounds per square inch. When half full, the 1775NT can maintain a 20-mph (32 km/h) transport speed for up to two hours, Deere says.
