Honda Montesa Cota 4RT 260R For 2022 Gets Increased Torque Delivery, Showa Pro-Link Rear Suspension

During the recent spate of announcements concerning updates to its various motorcycles for 2022, Honda mentioned several for its Montesa Cota 4RT 260R trials motorcycle. For starters, the bike borrows the larger aluminum muffler from its competition focused 301RR, providing riders with a 5% increase in low- and mid-range torque delivery. The additional power across the rev range complements Honda’s tuning for the 259-cc four-stroke engine, which Honda tweaked for ideal low-rpm response and easy-to-moderate power. Honda further improves the new Montesa Cota 4RT 260R’s performance with Showa suspension components, including a Showa Pro-Link rear suspension to match the 39-millimeter Showa fork and Showa shock found on previous models.

    More On The 4RT 260R

The precise low-rpm response of the Montesa Cota 4RT 260R provides the exacting power delivery riders need in trials riding. For quick adjustments to the motorcycle to match course conditions, Honda equips a dual-map electronic control unit (ECU) that switches between two modes: one setting for sections with poor traction and another for areas with better grip. Pinpoint brake control is delivered by the four-piston, front-brake caliper, and Honda equips a short rear-brake pedal to allow for better rider movement and avoid accidental impact. When riders need an easy kick start, they benefit from 4RT 260R’s long kickstart lever and digital ignition system. The bike includes a bank-angle sensor to switch off the ignition when it’s lying on the ground, increasing safety for the rider.

    4RT 301RR Race Replica

Riders looking to race the same model as trials professional Toni Bou, winner of 15 consecutive world titles, can opt for the 2022 4RT 301RR Race Replica powered by a 298-cc four-stroke engine; Honda says it’s the closest machine you’ll find to Bou’s personal trials bike. In addition to increased power from its 298-cc engine, the 4RT 301RR Race Replica boasts an aluminum chassis featuring custom Repsol graphics that enhance the motorcycle’s professional aesthetic.
