Agco’s New 30-Foot Fendt Momentum 12 Planter Brings Advanced Planting Technology To Smaller Operations
Agco recently announced that it has added a new 30-foot (9.1-meter) model to its Fendt Momentum planter lineup. As with larger variants, the new Momentum 12 planter offers the flexibility of liquid and dry fertilizer systems. Introduced at the recent Farm Progress Show, the new planter can carry 100 bushels (3,524 liters) of seed and accommodate up to 800 gallons (3,028 L) of liquid fertilizer in a newly designed tank that Agco plans to unveil in 2024.
“We’ve worked hard to expand our product lineup here in North America, and we’re excited to bring greater flexibility to farmers with the Momentum planter line,” says Agco Marketing Manager for Fendt Planters, Arthur Santos. “This addition allows family-owned farms and smaller operations to experience the best in agronomic planting, increasing their yields and improving their bottom lines.”
Meet The Momentum
With the addition of the new 12-row model, Fendt’s Momentum family now includes planters in 30- to 60-ft (18.3-m) working widths and 12- to 23-row configurations with 30- and 15-inch (76.2- and 38.1-centimeter) spacing. Agco introduced the award-winning Momentum in North America for row crop producers in 2020, with features designed to minimize soil compaction and provide optimal seed depth and spacing despite soil moisture or type, residue levels, terrain, or operating speed.
Building Momentum
Momentum planters incorporate numerous systems and technologies that enhance seed placement accuracy and other crucial factors. The Vertical Contouring Toolbar, for example, makes possible a vertical planting range of 52 in. (132 cm), thus helping to maintain seed accuracy on rolling terrain and on terraces. The planters’ SmartFrame technology positions the row units for ideal row cleaning, downforce, furrow creation, seed placement, and closing.
The Load Logic weight management system minimizes soil compaction by automatically shifting weight off the row units, lifting and adjusting the frame to minimize row-unit downforce. The system provides automatic Load Balance and Controlled Traffic modes to distribute weight across the entire frame or transfer compaction pressure to follow the tractor path. Load Logic also includes a central tire inflation system for automatic tire pressure adjustment. Very-High Flexion tires, meanwhile, combine the flotation advantage of tracks with the high road speed of tires, and Fendt’s in-line tandem wheel design eliminates pinch rows.
