New Kuhn Advance .1 Series Fertilizer Spreaders Promise Highly Precise Placement
Two typical goals of row crop producers are managing input costs and maximizing yield potential. Kuhn believes it can help achieve both with its new two-model, high-capacity Advance .1 Series of trailed fertilizer spreaders, which utilize several automated and precision application systems and technologies.
98% Application Accuracy
According to Kuhn, the combination of its Coaxial Distribution Adjustment (CDA) and Electronic Mass Flow Control (EMC) technologies enables these new fertilizer spreaders to reach up to 98% application accuracy. The precision is possible thanks to continuous, automatic adjustments to ground speed, application rate, and working width based on changing field conditions and more.
Kuhn says CDA ensures constant, automatic correction to maintain spread quality. EMC is a torque-based system that measures and continuously adjusts the application rate on each disc, helping deliver highly consistent coverage across the entire width.
To further enhance accuracy, the spreaders also use Vari-Spread Section Control and OptiPoint Pro Headland Control. These systems use GPS positioning and field-shape data to automatically manage working width, outlet openings, and switch-on and -off points, helping to eliminate overlaps and skips.
A Choice Of 2 Hopper Capacities
The Advance .1 Series comprises the 300.1 and 350.1 models, with 300-cubic-foot/8,495-liter and 350-cu-ft/9,910-L respective capacities. Both are suitable for fall, spring, and in-season applications. Each features 304 stainless steel hopper construction for excellent durability, a self-contained power take-off (PTO)-driven hydraulic system, and a 32-inch (81-centimeter) continuous conveyor belt.
Adjustable axle spacing ranges from 80 to 120 in. (203 to 305 cm), and multiple tire options help match different row spacing and operation sizes. The 300.1 variant requires a minimum of 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts), while the 350.1 requires 220 HP (164 kW).
Pick Your PowerPack
Customers can equip the spreaders with Kuhn’s Axis PowerPack or the Universal PowerPack. The Axis PowerPack is intended for high-precision nutrient applications across wide working widths, while the Universal PowerPack system is designed to handle high-volume materials like lime.
Kuhn says operators can switch between the systems in as little as 10 minutes. The Universal PowerPack spreads up to 59 feet (18 meters) wide, the Axis PowerPack covers 59 to 164 ft (50 m), saving time and reducing passes, fuel consumption, and soil compaction.
