John Deere Debuts New X-, P-, And G-Tier Models In Its Medium Wheel Loader Family
John Deere has rolled out a new Performance Tiering Strategy to help customers find the wheel loaders that fit their needs. The three tiers include the X-Tier, with leading-edge technologies and ultimate levels of performance, efficiency, and comfort; the P-Tier with high levels of performance, comfort, and efficiency; and the G-Tier of economical, rugged, and reliable machines for light- and medium-duty work.
“Every jobsite is unique, and customers want machine solutions that can be personalized to meet their diverse needs, including performance, price, and comfort,” says John Deere’s Jason Daly. “By offering three tiers, customers can move up or down the spectrum to find the right mix of features, performance, and innovation for their business and application.”
Some X- and P-Tier wheel loaders are available now in the U.S. and Canada, and a G-Tier machine is for sale in Canada and elsewhere in the world. Deere plans to introduce tiered models in other product categories going forward.
The 644 X-Tier
The first available wheel loader in Deere’s premium X-tier is the 644 with an E-Drive hybrid-electric transmission system. This efficient technological innovation uses a generator, driven by the engine, along with an inverter to manage an electric motor that propels a PowerShift transmission.
The 231-horsepower (172-kilowatt) 644 X-Tier has a bucket capacity of 4 to 4.75 cubic yards (3.1 to 3.6 cubic meters) and an operating weight of 41,571 to 41,649 pounds (18,856 to 18,892 kilograms).
The 444 To 724 P-Tiers
Representing the new P-Tier are Deere’s models 444 through 724. They feature a redesigned cab with electrohydraulic controls and dual return-to-dig settings. Parallel lift Z-Bar loader linkage comes standard, while a high-lift feature is an option.
The 444 to 724 P-Tier loaders range from 124 to 249 HP (92 to 200 kW), 25,814 to 43,783 lbs (11,709 to 19,859 kg) in operating weight, and 2.5 to 5 cubic yards (1.9 to 3.8 cubic meters) of bucket capacity.
The 644 G-Tier
The first entrant in the practical, rugged G-Tier is the 644, also sporting a new cab and a long list of options. Deere recommends this economical loader for stockpiling, short load-and-carry, truck and hopper loading, and material handling, as well as rental and governmental fleet duty.
The Deere 644 G-Tier weighs in at 39,650 to 40,135 lbs (17,985 to 18,205 kg). It has a bucket capacity of 4 to 4.25 cubic yards (3.1 to 3.25 cubic meters) and 227 HP (169 kW) of power.
