Durable & Affordable: John Deere Introduces 444 G-Tier Wheel Loader
John Deere recently introduced its new 444 G-Tier wheel loader, designed to provide the same rugged reliability as Deere’s P-Tier and X-Tier loaders without all the extras. This makes the 444 G-Tier base model more affordable.
"Our customers are always seeking the perfect solutions to meet their needs, and the introduction of the 444 G-Tier was a direct response to the demand for reliable and more economical options within our lineup of wheel loaders,” says Drew Miller, global product manager, wheel loaders, John Deere. "This model not only comes in at an attractive price point, but it was also designed to perform and deliver the same durability and power customers expect from a John Deere machine."
Deere 444 G-Tier Key Specs
The new G-Tier version of the 444 wheel loader uses the same 4.5-liter John Deere PowerTech E 4045H diesel engine as the 444 P-Tier, generating 124 net horsepower (92 kilowatts) and meeting Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emissions standards. Auto-idle and auto-shutdown features help the engine conserve fuel when not actively in use. Deere builds the loader with an updated powershift transmission.
The 444 G-Tier has an operating weight of 24,887 to 26,325 pounds (11,289 to 11,941 kilograms). It supports buckets with 2.5 to 2.75 cubic yards (1.9 to 2.1 cubic meters) of capacity and can exert a bucket breakout force of 17,637 pounds-force (8,000 kilograms-force). The loader has a 4.75-foot (1.44-meter) reach and 11.75 ft (3.58 m) of lift height at the pivot pin.
Standard Features
John Deere grouped the 444 G-Tier’s daily service points at ground level on the left side of the loader, including fuel and fluid refill access. The manufacturer says the transmission and hydraulic sight gauges are easy to locate and check. The right side of the machine offers access to the engine, radiator, and exhaust aftertreatment system.
The operator can adjust the 444 G-Tier’s controls and boom-height kickout settings from inside the ergonomic cab. Return-to-carry and return-to-dig functions help to make repetitive tasks less of a chore users. The cab has extra storage space on the floor and a joystick with built-in forward, neutral, and reverse controls. The 444 G-Tier also supports JDLink remote technology with service alerts and access to technician support and replacement parts.
Optional Upgrades
The Deere 444 G-Tier is available with an optional air-ride suspension seat and ride control. A High-Lift linkage option extends the loader’s reach and adds 17 more inches (432 millimeters) of hinge-pin height for greater clearance while loading trucks, feed mixers, and the like.
An optional debris package includes a centrifugal air pre-cleaner and an auto-reversing cooling fan with a hinged door for easy cleaning. The package comes with debris shields for the transmission and the bottom of the machine.
Other options include snow tires, couplers, beacons, and third-function hydraulics. The wheel loader accommodates snow blades, grapples, and other attachments.
