Used Excavator & Bulldozer Inventory Levels In Canada Dip For First Time In 2024
The latest Sandhills Global market reports covering used excavators and bulldozers in Sandhills’ Canadian marketplaces show inventory levels for both categories slid back, albeit slightly, for the first time this year in September. Retail pricing for used excavators and bulldozers also dipped in September, continuing a months-long trend. Auction prices for excavators fell at a faster pace than retail prices.

While inventory levels of larger used excavators (8 metric tons or greater) peaked in Canada in September, Lewis says, “We are still seeing inventory levels climbing in the less-than-5-metric-ton excavator category.” Although retail pricing has flattened over the past 30 to 60 days, he adds, “we’re still seeing auction values dropping in the excavator market as a whole.”
Looking at used bulldozer inventory in Canadian marketplaces, Lewis says, “Again, we see that same hook forming in the past months where total inventory levels have slid back for the first time in quite a while. As we look at dealer pricing and auction values, dealer pricing continues to drop on dozers in Canada. Auction values dropped slightly this past month, but overall they’ve been flat for the past 30 to 60 days.”
