Airstream recently announced that the five models in its Class B Interstate and Class B+ Atlas luxury touring coach lineups for 2024 are built on Mercedes-Benz’s new-generation Sprinter chassis. Driving the chassis is a twin-turbo, 2-liter, in-line 4-cylinder Mercedes-Benz diesel-powered engine rated for 208 horsepower (155 kilowatts) and 332 pounds-foot (450 newton-meters) of torque. Airstream says the chassis provides class-leading power, fuel economy, and performance.

New Interstate models include the 19-foot (5.8-meter) Interstate 19 and the 24-ft (7.3-m) 24GT, 24GL, and 24X. Each sleeps two people, ranges in passenger capacity from four to nine, and (depending on the model) comes with features such as a bathroom, kitchen, mobile workspace, and lounging space.
The 24-ft Atlas is Airstream’s most luxurious touring coach. It boasts such high-end features as a power slide-out Murphy bed, a 3-piece residential bathroom, Oceanair power shades, and a QuietStream climate control system.
A Lighter Load
The new coaches’ engine delivers more horsepower (20; 15 kW) and torque (7 lbf-ft; 9.5 N-m) than the one in last year’s models but weighs 30 pounds (13.6 kilograms) less, resulting in better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, says Airstream. When combined with the Sprinter’s 9-speed automatic transmission, the engine also delivers improved takeoffs, smoother acceleration, and considerably less cabin noise and vibration.
Customers looking for additional vehicle stability and versatility can upgrade to electronically controlled, automatic all-wheel drive (AWD), with a distribution system that funnels 50% of available torque to the front wheels when detecting wheel slip. Standard electric power steering assist for 2024 will simplify traversing narrow city streets, crowded campsites, and other precision-driving situations.
Colors, Connectivity & Control
Not all the updates for 2024 relate to performance and power. For example, Interstate buyers have a new Tenorite Gray exterior paint color option in addition to the existing Iridium Silver Metallic. On the inside, Airstream is upgrading to smart flat-screen TVs that provide expanded entertainment connectivity, says Airstream.
The 2024 Atlas comes standard with the Starlink High-Performance In-Motion antenna and gains an additional 1,000 lbs (453 kg) of payload capacity, as well as a hitch that’s 18 lbs (8.2 kg) lighter and has integrated skid bars. Airstream is also replacing the previous stab-jack leveling system with a new, easier-to-use 4-corner hydraulic system, as well as added Triple Nickel Chrome wheels.
